𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The Office of the Public Protector is in Northern and Muchinga provinces on a programme to educate members of the general public on their rights to good administration and empowering them with information to monitor service delivery in Public Institutions.

The Office is also interacting with Public Service workers with the aim of discussing issues relating to administrative injustice.

From Monday 15th August 2022 to Friday 19th August, 2022 the office is conducting meetings with Heads of Government Institutions in Kasama, Mpulungu and Mbala to remind them on the need to provide quality public services to members of the general public and adhere to prescribed procedures and guidelines as well as uphold the rule of law as they perform their official duties.

The Office is also conducting programmes on radio stations and other media platforms aimed at educating the public to hold public officials and state institutions accountable in the delivery of public services.

The Office of the Public is scheduled to conduct similar engagements in Nakonde, Muchinga and Mpika in the coming week and other provinces in the near future.

This is in line with the Public Protector Act No. 15 of 2016 which among other functions mandates the office to: create awareness in the fight against maladministration; develop educational and other programmes for the sensitisation of the media; promote an environment for the respect of ethics; disseminate information and sensitise the public on the negative effects of maladministration; provide information or assistance to State institutions for the improvement of administrative practices and procedures and promote public awareness of policies and administrative procedures on matters relating to administrative justice.
